| Bio: | OK - story of my life... I grew up in England - after finishing school, I worked in a bookshop for a year, started doing medieval studies at uni. Dropped out after the first year was over coz I didnt like the course or the area. Went to work as a soapmaking assistant in a monastery in Norway for 6 months, which I loved (despite not being religious). Got another job in a different monastery/student home doing cleaning work and taking evening classes in Norwegian. Left that job and studied Norwegian for 6 months. Came back to the UK to do some A levels in 1 year so I could improve my grades to study at Oslo Uni. Now living in Oslo doing a degree in Arabic (2 years) and Hebrew (1 year). Last semester I was in Cairo for the study abroad part of my course. Now I'm finishing up with Arabic and applying to places to do the 1 year of Hebrew (places that hopefully have a more stimulating Hebrew study environment than at Oslo...) BTW In case anyone is wondering, the quote I used as the title of the journal comes from Radical Psychiatry which is a kind of political and 'anti-psychotherapy industry' movement see here for some info I think its a neat quote so I used it for the journal (And No, the journal is not about my paranoia or my fantasies!!!). This is a bit of explanation from the site above, it's focussing on pretty extreme scenarios but it explains better that I can: "People's budding perceptions of oppression, persecution, and abuse are most often effectively squelched and ignored; but for others, these perceptions can evolve into large-scale obsessions that develop into systems that, when elaborated, become fantastic and unreal, at which point they are called "paranoid delusions." Radical Psychiatry holds that paranoia no matter how fantastic, are always based on a kernel of truth, and that is why we say that "paranoia is a state of heightened awareness." Consequently, we encourage the expression of people's "paranoid fantasies" by willingly searching for the grain of truth in them and validating whatever aspect of them that may be realistic."
